About us
About Leora Behavioral Health
Leora means “my inner light.” The name reflects how we see every person who calls us: addiction or mental illness can hide that light for a long time, and treatment helps people find it again.
We are an outpatient addiction and mental health provider with facilities in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, and virtual IOP for people anywhere in the state. People come in for treatment and go home at the end of the day, to their families and their jobs. We want everyone who walks through the door to feel safe and heard, and to be treated as a person first.
Mission and approach
Leora's focus is helping people recover from addiction and mental health conditions. Because every level of care is outpatient, recovery happens alongside work and family life. When someone has a substance use disorder and a mental health condition at the same time, Leora treats both through its co-occurring disorders treatment. Leora is part of NewVista Health.
A full continuum of outpatient care
Leora offers a full continuum of outpatient care, from ambulatory detox to an alumni program. Someone who needs more support, or less, can change level without changing provider.
In each level from partial hospitalization down to outpatient, group therapy runs alongside individual sessions. The therapies used include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, family therapy, twelve step facilitation, medication assisted treatment and case management. See all therapies and services.
What outpatient means here
Leora has no beds and provides no overnight care. It does not offer residential or inpatient treatment. Ambulatory detox is outpatient too: nurse practitioners and registered nurses assess and monitor each person, who sleeps at home. It is for mild to moderate withdrawal that does not need 24/7 medical supervision, and not everyone is a candidate. When someone needs more supervision than outpatient care can give, the assessment says so.

Treatment is delivered by licensed clinicians: nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and therapists and counselors whose licenses include LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC, LCDCIII and LICDC.
