Virtual IOP at Leora

Virtual IOP, short for virtual intensive outpatient program, is intensive outpatient treatment delivered by telehealth. Leora's program is fully remote: group sessions, individual counseling and psychiatric support all take place through secure online platforms. It treats substance use and mental health conditions, and it is available anywhere in Ohio.

Sessions are available in the morning, afternoon and evening, so treatment can fit around work, school or family obligations.

Who it suits

Virtual IOP programs suit people who need structured treatment and want to stay at home. That includes:

  • People with work or family obligations who need sessions outside standard hours
  • Anyone stepping down from inpatient rehab or a higher level of care, such as partial hospitalization
  • People who live far from Columbus and Dayton
  • Anyone without reliable transportation, or with a health condition that makes travel hard

Privacy online

Group works when everyone can speak freely. Join from a room where nobody can overhear, use headphones if other people are nearby, and keep what others say in group to yourself. Do not record sessions or take screenshots. If you do not have a private place to sit for a full session, say so at the assessment.

What telehealth cannot cover

Worth knowing

Ambulatory detox takes place on site at Columbus and Dayton, where nurse practitioners and registered nurses assess and monitor you. If you are in withdrawal now, start there. For a suicide or mental health crisis, call or text 988, and in an emergency call 911.

Who needs a different level

Admissions will recommend a different level of care for:

  • Anyone currently in withdrawal
  • A need for 24/7 care, which Leora does not provide
  • Immediate risk of self-harm, which needs in-person help now

If remote sessions stop working for you partway through, tell your therapist. The change may be to in-person IOP at Columbus or Dayton, or up to partial hospitalization.

Getting started

Call (614) 665-8878, and admissions will tell you how your assessment is arranged. Have these ready:

  • Your ID
  • Your insurance card
  • A current list of your medications
  • A copy of your discharge plan, if you are coming from another program

Leora accepts all major commercial insurance and Medicaid, and it is CARF accredited and LegitScript certified.
